Soulful, relaxing music uplifts the spirit and can help take the mind into the realms of imagined landscapes of great beauty. It can help the sub-conscious mind unravel and give us clues to our emotional or mental outlook. Music as such, coupled with a deeply relaxing Reiki treatment can enhance the benefits of the healing session greatly.
There are many recordings that have been produced specifically for Reiki treatments and the practitioner and client can explore together what preferences they have.
Music is such a wonderful thing! Probably the best thing human kind has ever created, in my opinion anyway!
Such an amazing combination of melodic sounds that can influence our mental / emotional state and therefore surely our physical!
Music can invoke happiness, raise us spiritually, make us want to get up and dance and positively colours our world with stimulating sound.
Man has used particular musical beats over eons of time to create trance, raise energy, invoke spirit and celebrate rites of passage. Music may even expand our consciousness!

Music and sound has definitely played an important role in all aspects of human life.
Reiki healing sessions utilise music and sound by aiding a persons ability to relax. Natural sounds along with music are popular choices. Bird song, gentle sea waves, rain storms and even dolphin or whale song combined with music are helpful in releasing a stressed mindset. As Reiki is such a relaxing treatment to have, music in combination often helps the mind to drift off into a deeper experience of that relaxation. Often clients report that the right music takes them off to beautiful landscapes and inner journeys of a soothing and uplifting nature.
The brain is a network of electrical impulses and many scientific studies have shown the effect of alpha, beta and binaural beats on the human brain.
These studies show that concentration and focus can be improved by certain rhythms and similarly meditative states can be encouraged.
Music certainly brings a lot of joy and of course Music Therapy is an art and science of its own!
Choosing music for your Reiki practise is a personal thing and preferences should always be discussed with your client.
Music can help create a relaxing healing space, help shut out background sounds and also helps to quieten the mental chatter we are all prone to.
If you are lucky enough to practise your Reiki or find a practice in a quiet location however, do not underestimate the peace of silence. It's not often in this busy world that we get to enjoy the sound of quiet stillness.
Always ask your client what is their preference and don't be afraid as a client yourself to request that the music is turned off if it's not working for you.
